I Made: a Matching Tweed Set

Upcycling: various processes by which “old” or existing products are modified and gain a second life as they’re turned into “new” products.

If you haven’t dabbled in upcycling, take this as a sign you should. Old teacups can become candles, a mason jar can be a rustic vase, an old blouse can become a scrunchie. Get crafty, it’s fun as hell.

My latest upcycling project was a vintage blazer. One of my grandpa’s tweed blazers from the 60’s had been hanging in my closet for years. I’ve worn it lots, and have styled it many ways, but it was begging for a new life.

So I cut & sew this two piece matching outfit: cropped blazer and high waist skirt. It’s now for sale on my depop.

The construction was challenging, but I feel proud I finished it and worked out allll the problems along the way. Now I know exactly how to make the next one.
